Who I am

Hi! My name is Johanie (pronounced Joe-haw-knee) and I’ve been a book lover since I was six years old. Books, for me, are portals to another world that deserve as much care and attention as possible during the editorial process to make the reader feel the same.

I believe in editing with kindness because I know how scary it is to hand over your work, that you’ve poured so much of your heart into, to someone to critique it. Additionally, I’ll also be honest and direct with you. I’m not here to lie to you; I’m here to work alongside you to help you achieve your vision for your story.

I’ve been editing for 6 years and have worked with both indie authors and bigger named publishers alike as a developmental editor, a copy editor, proofreader, sensitivity reader, and writer. I’m a Tessera Editorial alumnus.

Testimonials

  • Johanie is such a pleasure to work with! I can’t praise her enough. She is thorough and professional and funny all at the same time. She goes above and beyond to ensure my research is correct, and she catches things I totally miss. She finds my innumerable redundancies and slashes my extra words. Johanie is a breath of fresh air in the editing world. I highly recommend her.
